Obviously there is bias in all books and media.  There is even bias in the materials librarians select to include in physical and online library collections.  The challenge for researchers is determining what that bias may be and the degree to which it influences what is being documented.  In some cases, researchers may intentionally seek out different perspectives or viewpoints.  Here are some sources and strategies:
  1. Compare more than one article on the same topic in the Proquest database to see how different authors treat the same topic.
  2. Certain databases such as Global Issues in Context intentionally highlight this type of material in the search results.
  3. Several websites such as ProCon.org and Allsides methodically categorize perspectives for researchers
  4. Seek out information by authors/agencies with known bias or agenda.
