Summer Reading List - Trask Library

A resource of summer reading recommendations for summer reading.

Welcome to the Summer Reading Lists

Summer-time reading should be fun.  Make it a part of your daily life, and take advantage of the down time that summer break offers! With all of the platforms available today, having a big book-list doesn't necessarily mean you need to lug around a big old bag of books with you.  Some titles you may choose to read traditionally, while others may be devoured on a Kindle, Nook, IPad, IPod or other e-reading device!

PreK and Kindergarten
When your kids are ready for a short break from traveling, swimming, running around, going to movies and sipping lemonade on the porch, have an excellent book ready for them to tumble into.  The early childhood summer reading list was compiled this year to let your kids enjoy a flight of fancy in their heads when their bodies are briefly at rest.  The titles here will hopefully offer you the opportunity for some calm and shared moments of summer fun.

Rising First through Fifth Graders
Please look to our lists as a guide, not the final word.  Browse the lists on the grade level either side of where your child will be in September and pick and choose to make your own summer reading list! Just like adults, kids need a variety of books.  Somedays they may want something light and breezy, and on other days they may want to immerse themselves in a fantasy world. There's no single way to "do" summer reading: read inside or outside, form a book club, read in your favorite tree, bring your books to camp or the beach!

As always, if you would like some additional titles or have any questions, drop me an email (lomalley@penncharter.com).

Happy reading!
